A purged and pressurized enclosure, or purge panel, permits standard industrial electrical components to be used safely in locations where combustible gases, vapors or dust are present. The system initially purifies by means of a clean air or an inert gas, such as instrument air or nitrogen to clear all the trapped potentially dangerous elements and then pressurizes the enclosure to avoid subsequent entry. Such a design is provided to ensure PLCs, relays, and instruments can operate without risk in Zone 1 and Zone 2 gas zones or Zone 21 and Zone 22 dust environments.
